Simply getting a new set of keys cut on a modern car will not solve security problem. However modern cars have significantly improved security and lock features. Most cars built in the last five years have coded engine immobilizer system. The keys have a unique electronic code that matches a code held in the engine management system and is checked every time the car is started.
Cylinder locks are perhaps the most well known of the three main mechanical lock systems, with the most common of these being the cylinder rim lock. These are commonly found in main doors and are often referred to as Yale lock (though this is actually the name of a particular manufacturer, much as the term Hoover has been adopted to describe all vacuum cleaners).
For every home and car owner, security and safety are highly important. This is exactly why locks, keys and electronic security devices came into existence. Their invention was purposefully to address the growing need for personal protection of properties and other valuables. Historically speaking, locks and keys were already used in the Biblical times. Using crude wood and metal, people shaped them into slabs attached against the door from the inside by the use of makeshift brackets.
They either get lost, forgotten when needed, or else relegated to an already overburdened key chain. The solution to this unwanted hassle is the keyless lock. Keyless locks come in countless varieties and are produced by a similar number of manufacturers, but they all share one common thread- no more worrying about where your keys are! Convenience is not the only advantage, though it is enough to warrant transitioning to keyless locks, they also bring peace of mind to their users
ekeying is the process of altering a lock so that it uses a different key. This is different from changing a lock because it that situation, the entire lock and accompanying hardware is completely removed and replaced. In rekeying, new keys are made and the existing lock mechanism is reset so that it will only open with the new keys.
When do you need a locksmith?
A locksmith may be needed when you want to make your home or business more safe and secure. The safety a locksmith can provide can reduce the chances of breaking and entering and burglary. Having a more secure home can make us feel safer knowing that we have taken the proper precautions by calling a locksmith. A more secure home means that a criminal will less likely be able to break in as easily as they could with a home that is not as secure.
